35 let Anglické sekce
Anglická sekce Gymnázia, Olomouc-Hejčín letos slaví 35 let své existence. V této souvislosti se nemůžeme ubránit jisté nostalgii a vzpomínání. Když se 1.10. 2026 konala v Ostravě recepce pořádaná Britskou ambasádou v Praze za účasti naší kolegyně a koordinátorky Anglické sekce, Mgr. Hany Mádrové, sešli se na ní zástupci tvůrců, kteří před léty stáli u kolébky Anglické sekce. Byl to tehdejší rektor Univerzity Palackého, profesor Josef Jařab, jenž na začátku 90. let oslovil tehdejšího ředitele GH, PhDr. Milana Justa, s nabídkou založit právě na našem gymnáziu Anglickou sekci. Tím se začal psát příběh projektu srdcařů, který trvá dodnes. Díky obrovské podpoře British Council v Manchesteru, později i v Olomouci, Ministerstva školství ČR a Univerzity Palackého, Anglická sekce vznikla.
Dnes tuto tradici rozvíjíme a slavíme za podpory britského velvyslance Matthewa Fielda, jeho zástupkyně Kate Davenport a vědeckého atašé Britského velvyslanectví v ČR Otakara Fojta, kteří nás již osobně navštívili. Spolupráci s Univerzitou Palackého na fotografii reprezentují Mgr. Ondřej Molnár, Ph.D., vedoucí Katedry anglistiky a amerikanistiky, a Mgr. Marcela Koupilová, vedoucí Britského centra UP v Olomouci.
35 let tedy není jen výročí. Je to tradice, která stále žije. A my jsme rádi, že můžeme být její součástí.
This year, the English Section of Gymnázium, Olomouc-Hejčín celebrates its 35th anniversary. On this occasion, we cannot help but look back with a sense of nostalgia and gratitude.
When a reception hosted by the British Embassy in Prague took place in Ostrava on 1 October 2026, attended by our colleague and English Section Coordinator, Mgr. Hana Mádrová, it brought together representatives of the people who helped establish the English Section many years ago.
Among them was Professor Josef Jařab, then Rector of Palacký University Olomouc, who approached the then Headmaster of GH, PhDr. Milan Just, in the early 1990’s with the idea of creating an English Section at our school. That moment marked the beginning of a remarkable project driven by enthusiasm, commitment, and a shared vision, a project that continues to thrive to this day.
The English Section was established thanks to the tremendous support of the British Council in Manchester and later in Olomouc, the Czech Ministry of Education, and Palacký University Olomouc.
Today, we proudly continue this tradition with the support of His Majesty’s Ambassador to the Czech Republic, Matthew Field, Deputy Ambassador Kate Davenport, and Science and Innovation Attaché Otakar Fojt, all of whom have personally visited our school. Representing our long-standing partnership with Palacký University in the photograph are Mgr. Ondřej Molnár, Ph.D., Head of the Department of English and American Studies, and Mgr. Marcela Koupilová, Director of the British Centre at Palacký University Olomouc.
Thirty-five years is more than an anniversary. It is a living tradition that continues to inspire new generations of students and teachers alike. We are proud to be part of its story and look forward to writing its next chapter together.
